Wanda Hartley, 80, of Oshkosh passed away January 2, 2014 at the Garden County Health Services Nursing Home in Oshkosh. Wanda Maxine Hartley was born on July 2, 1933 in Oshkosh as the oldest daughter to Arthur W. and Frances F. (Ridenour) Albee. She was raised in Oshkosh and graduated from Garden County High School in 1951. She was briefly married to Roy Hartley. After high school she assisted Dr. A.B. Albee in his medical practice from 1952 until 1957 when she moved to California. She returned to school in 1969 and received her Associates Degree as a RN. She worked and resided in the Los Angeles and Inglewood, California areas until Wanda retired in 1985. After retirement she moved permanently to Big Bear Lake, California until May 21, 2002. She returned to Oshkosh after over 30 years as companion to Dorothy Crawford. Wanda enjoyed life and was a true and loyal friend to so many people. She will be remembered for her wonderful letters that kept her in touch even though she was miles away. She was an excellent woodworker and enjoyed camping, hiking and skiing during her many years in California. After returning to Oshkosh she became an active and valued member of the community. She served on the Garden County Health Services board, was a member and Worthy Matron of the Oshkosh chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, and wrote a weekly column in the Garden County News. She was preceded in death by her life companion, Dorothy, her grandparents and her parents.
