William E. Blanton, Sr., 76, Greensburg, passed away on Monday, September 15, 2014 at the Heritage House Nursing Home in Greensburg.
Born, February 15, 1938 in London, Kentucky, he was the son of Andrew Louis and Elsie (Green) Blanton.
He graduated from Greensburg High School in 1955.
He was a Veteran of the USAF retiring in 1977 after serving for 21 years.
He was a member of the 1st Christian Church in Greensburg.
He was married to Margaret D. "Peg" Brown on July 30, 1958 in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England and she survives.
He is also survived by one son, William (Bill) Blanton, Jr., Greensburg; three daughters, Susan Kay Blanton, Greensburg, Deb (Ken) Kestler, Greensburg, Terri Ann (Todd) Albrecht, Lawrenceburg; three brothers, Clarence Edward (Jennifer) Blanton, Kenneth Eugene (Carolyn) Blanton, Rodger (Anne) Blanton; six sisters, Myrtle Pittman, Louise (Francis) Idlewine, Shirley Proctor, Diana Blanton, Elsie (Harold) Goins, Barbara Pokorzynski; three grandchildren, Timothy (Rose) Hamilton, Meghan (Ryan) Clark, Christopher Albrecht; one great grandson, Nolan Clark.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Charlie Clay Blanton, Louis Junior Blanton, Gilbert Stanley Blanton; one sister, Lillie Belle Voiles; one half sister, Betty Jo Claxton.
Visitation will be from 4-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at the funeral home with Rev. Danny Wolford officiating.
Interment with full military services will be held in the South Park Catholic Cemetery in Greensburg, Indiana.
Memorials may be made to the Our Hospice of Southeastern Indiana.
