Son of Luther and Angeline Hawes Turner. Husband of 1/Bertha Oldenburg 2? Ellen Francis Wiggin.
Enlisted at Lincoln, ME July 15, 1861 at age 21 into Co I 6th Maine Infantry Regiment. Discharged for disability Feb 23, 1863. Drafted at Lincoln Aug 14, 1863 into Co E 3rd Maine Infantry Regiment. Taken prisoner May 6, 1864 at battle of Wilderness, VA. He escaped March of 1865. While as a POW he was transferred June 4, 1864 out, and into Co I 17th Maine Infantry and June 13, 1865 into Co I 1st Maine Heavy Artillery. He was discharged by General Order 77 May 31, 1865.
