His first wife was Mary Hopkins Lewis, the daughter of William Hopkins and Mary Andrews Hopkins.

His second wife was Mary Cheever Lewis, the daughter of Ezekiel Cheever. She later married, as his second wife, Thomas Bull Jr.

He was the son of William Lewis and Felix "Felicia" Collins Lewis.

Children(by first marriage): Mary Lewis Judd, Philip Lewis, Samuel Lewis, Sarah Lewis Boltwood, Hannah Lewis Crow Marsh(whose second husband was Daniel Marsh), William Lewis III, Felix Lewis Selden, Ebenezer Lewis, John Lewis, and James Lewis.

Children(by second marriage): Elizabeth Lewis, Ezekiel Lewis, Nathaniel Lewis(whose second wife was Thankful Pomeroy Lyman Lewis), Abigail Lewis Wadsworth, Joseph Lewis, and Daniel Lewis.
