HUBBARD Donald C. Ashman, Sr. 89, of Hubbard, died Saturday morning, August 2, 2008, at Heritage Manor. He was born April 6, 1919, in Youngstown, a son of Fred and Mattie Braley Ashman and was a life long area resident. Mr. Ashman worked for Youngstown Building Materials for 20 years retiring in 1980. He was a member of St. Patrick Church and enjoyed working in his yard. Don served with the Army in World War II and was a Prisoner of War in Japan for 3 1/2 years. His wife, the former Marge M. Madeline, whom he married June 24, 1946, died February 24, 2007. He leaves a son, Donald C. (Judy) Ashman, Jr. of Hubbard; one daughter, Karen A. (Ron) Mathews of Hubbard; two brothers, Robert Ashman of Boardman and Richard Ashman of North Carolina, three sisters, Phoebe Mayle and Hattie Sebo, both of Hubbard and Martha Woods of South Carolina; five grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Robert Ashman, seven sisters, May Mascardine, Marion Bogdan, Mildred Douglas, Margaret Newman, May Riley, Miss Margie and a sister who died in infancy, five brothers, James, Paul, William, Dave and Fred Ashman. There are no callings hours or funeral services. The Ashman Family would like to extend a special thanks to Heritage Manor for their kindness and loving care shown during this time.
