Miss Hazel Armfield, daughter of G Will Armfield, of Greensboro, while on a visit to Oak Ridge Monday, took two grains of strichnine by mistake, and died that afternoon. She went to the clock where the quinine was kept, to get a small dose, and by mistake got hold of a bottle of strichnine which was kept on the place to kill crows. The girl was 16 years old and her sad death is a terrible blow to the parents. The August 28, 1901 edition of The Weekly High Point Enterprise included (page 3):
