In 1925 there was a Davis family reunion in St. Vincent, Minnesota, including all members of the families of 3 siblings; Corban Davis, Harry Ward Davis (my grandfather), and Jessie (Davis) McElroy.
It was the first time Mom (Lelia Davis) met her "city cousin" Grace Davis. Both were about 14, but Mom was a few months older than Grace. But Mom once told me Grace seemed a lot older than she, because she was very sophisticated and had nice city clothing. Mom said she felt like a country hick, and wished she could live in the city like Grace.
At least a half century later, I visited Grace (Davis) Busey in Independence, MO. We talked about the reunion. Grace had been an only child till she was 12, and brother Harry was just a baby at the time of the reunion. Grace said she'd been horribly lonely growing up in Kansas City. She had friends at school, but none lived anywhere nearby, and the only people around were adults. She didn't even have a pet.
She told me that when she met Mom, she thought her the luckiest girl in the world, living in the country with all her siblings and friends, animals all around, and so many fun things to do.
It sounds like a storybook tale about the sophisticated city girl and her country cousin; and how each envied the other's life!
I have never known where Vaughn and Grace are buried. A family member believes they are at Floral Hills, so that's what I'm showing. But I would appreciate confirmation of this.
