Arthur W. McKee, 54, check weightman for the Macon county Coal co. died Saturday at 5:15 pm in his home at 1210 E.Praire Ave. Following an illness of six weeks. His condition had been recognized as serious for the last three weeks.
Mr.McKee was born in Moweaqua July 27, 1878. He was in the army during the Spanish-American war and at the end of the war came to Decatur where he since had lived. Before entering the employ of the coal co. he operated a billiard hall on Merchant street.
He married Clara A. Sanders in 1906. He is survived by his wife, one son Arthur L. McKee and a daughter,Mrs.Blanche Stevenson of Chicago, his mother, Mrs.Sarah M. Hempel of Chicago, a brother W. N.McKee of Arlington Heights and the following half brothers and half sisters, Herman Henry and Robert Hempel, Mrs.Grace Bosley and Miss Vera Hempel, all of Chicago.
Mr. McKee was a member of the Eagles and the Moose lodges of Decatur and of the United Mine Workers of America.
The body was removed to the J. J. Moran & Son funeral home where funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 pm in the chapel Burial will be in Fairlawn cemetery.
