Madoline Marie Shenk, 85, of 845 Airport Rd., Luray, died on Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, at MontVue Nursing Home.

She was born on Jan. 30, 1929, in Rileyville and was a daughter of the late Martin Edward Alger and Marion Chrisman Alger.

Mrs. Shenk was employed for Page County Public Schools for 25 years as a cafeteria worker. She was a member of the Forward For Christ Baptist Church.

On Oct. 16, 1948, she married Rumsey Lee Shenk, who died on Jan. 17, 2004.

She is survived by a son, Ronald L. Shenk and wife Pamela of Luray; a sister, Maxine A. Fristoe of Luray; four grandchildren, Anthony Stephens and April Campbell, both of Luray, Michelle Shenk of Harrisonburg, and David Lee Shenk of Stanley; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Wayne Shenk; two daughters, Linda Darlene Shenk and Joy E. Johnson; three sisters, Mary A. Rose, Beulah E. Hoak and Margaret Virginia Ponn; and three brothers, William, Paul E. and Rumsey L. Alger Sr.

A funeral service was conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the Forward For Christ Baptist Church by Pastor Chester Knighting. Burial was in the Beahm’s Chapel Cemetery in Luray.
