Son of Friedrich Heinrich Philip Kregel and Charlotte Oldenstadt
****

Fredrick Henry Kregel was born June 17th, 1861, in Gross Varningen, Hanover Germany. In 1865 he came with his parents to America and settled in Jefferson township, this state. In 1875 his parents moved to a farm in Garnavillo township, where he grew to manhood, later taking the farm himself and making it his home for over forty years.
On Oct. 26th, 1888, he was married to Miss Louise Meyer. Seven children were born to this union, four of whom preceded their father in death. Several years ago the deceased underwent an operation at Rochester, Minn., and though he apparently regained his health, the wound did not heal. A second operation was performed at Postville hospital on March 7th, 1916. He withstood the operation well and for a brief period hoped for recovery but God willed otherwise and death came on May 3rd, 1916.
There are left to mourn his death his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Amanda Meyer, of Wagner township; a son, Herman and daughter Selma, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Henry Krueger, of Luana, and Mrs. Louis Kamin, of Grand Meadow; one grand-child, besides many other relatives and friends.
The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at St. Peter’s church, Rev.C. Bosholm officiating. Interment in the new cemetery.
