Veteran of the War of 1812.

Husband of Mildred Hughes, daughter of Reuben Hughes (d. 1814) and his wife Keziah Tyler of Hanover County, Virginia.

Enumerated in the 1810, 1820 and 1830 censuses in Hanover County, listed near both his mother Sarah Timberlake and mother-in-law Keziah Hughes. Nathan had died by 1840.

By 1805 he was leasing a building owned by Benjamin Duval on Lot No. 40 on the north side of Main Street in Richmond. In 1807 Nathan served as a private in Lord's Company in the 33rd Regiment of the Virginia Militia, and in 1812 in Lt-Col. Thomas Ballowe's 2nd Regiment of the Virginia Militia.

He was the plaintiff in the Hanover County Chancery Case [1834-008], Nathan Timberlake vs. Thomas Turner etc, and his children Araminta, Frank, Jackson, and Mary were defendants in the Henrico County Chancery Case [1840-002], Frederick Bowe etc. vs. Araminta Timberlake, Frank Timberlake, Jackson Timberlake, Mary Timberlake.

Evidence of his five children who survived to adulthood can be found on pages 994 and 995 of the Louisa County Chancery Case [1898-014], John Timberlake etc. vs. Executor of Henry Timberlake etc. They were Rebecca Timberlake Hogan, Louisa Timberlake Anthony, Mary Timberlake Anthony, Francis Henry Timberlake, and Sarah Timberlake Sheppard-Woodfin.
