According to his World War I registration form Charles Martin Warth was of medium height, slender build with gray eyes and brown hair.

In his certificate of death there is a typographical error for his middle initial from the hospital. This should have had an 'M' for Martin, but instead has a 'G' 1918. The middle name Martin can be verified in his own handwriting in his World War I registration form 12 Sep 1918.

In fact his Father's middle initial was G (for Gottlieb) Unfortunately this error was then taken forward by the local paper and repeated wrongly in Charles Martin Warth's obituary.

During prohibition (January 16, 1920 - February 17, 1933) Galveston was in its heyday and thriving as a city by the Sea. Charles died in John Sealy Hospital from alcohol poisoning or taking a beverage that contained deadly wood alcohol aka Methanol.

This period was known for 'Mortal Moonshine' many bootleggers hired chemists to successfully 're-nature' industrial alcohols in order to make them safe to drink.

The Treasury Department itself required manufacturers to add more deadly poisons in hopes of preventing consumption, and it is thought that more than 10,000 victims died as of Methanol poisoning alone. Countless other unscrupulous distributors, Speakeasies etc... mixed these products into their supply, thus increasing their profits.

Many thanks to the original creator Floyd Lanny Martin for this and many more memorials that he has shared with the world
