Charles Lee"Charlie" Kalbaugh, Jr., passed away at his residence following a courageous battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Charles Lee "Dusty" Kalbaugh and Genevieve Yvonne (Hamilton) Kalbaugh Broadwater. His stepfather was the late Marshall Paul Broadwater.
Charlie graduated from Bruce High School in 1967. He was a United States Army veteran and retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 2005 after 37 years of service.
Charlie also served as commander of The American Legion Post #293, in Purcellville, Virginia.
He was survived by his wife of 43 years, Patricia "Patti" (Riley) Kalbaugh, and children: Tracy Gallagher and husband, Brian, of Leesburg, VA; Kevin Kalbaugh and wife, Olivia, of Leesburg, VA; and Eric Kalbaugh, of Leesburg, VA. He was also survived by his grandchildren: Gaby, Adriana, Brady, Sophia, and Brooke; and by his siblings: Sandra "Sandy" (Kalbaugh) Keller Shay, and husband, Paul, of Severn, MD; Karen (Kalbaugh) Kelly, and husband, Paul, of Westernport, MD; and stepbrother Marshall E. Broadwater, of Westernport, MD.
Interment was in Philos Cemetery, Westernport, MD, with the Reverend Garrett Carskadon presiding. Military honors were accorded at the graveside.
