Major League Baseball Player. His real name was Ervin Martin Pavliecivich. The right-handed pitcher broke into the big leagues with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. Palica pitched two scoreless innings against the New York Yankees in a losing cause in the fifth and final game of the 1949 World Series. His best season was 1950, when he was 13-8 with 201 innings pitched. He served in the military in 1952 and most of the 1953 season. On March 17, 1955, he was traded to Baltimore for first baseman Frank Kellert and cash and finished his career with the Orioles in 1956. His nine-year record was 41-55 with a 4.22 earned run average.
