Reunited with her husband Frank; sisters, Merene Scurachio and laVern Spainhower; brother Gerald "Bud" Anderson; granddaughter Amy Celeste Clark, Hazel Merrill was born in St. Anthony, Idaho to Frederick A. and Fern Y. Anderson. She celebrated only 22 real birthdays because was a leap year baby. Hazel was 88 years of age, when she succumb to death. On February 14, 1941, she married Frank M. Merrill. Married for 52 years, Frank passed away May 25, 1993.

Employed in Chicago, Illinois, she met her future mother-in-law and husband at the LDS Hospital. Member of the LDS Church, she also worked for Darrell’s Beauty Salon and Kay Dunn’s Beauty Salon. A talented seamstress, she sewed her dresses and dresses for her daughters and nieces. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed caring for her home and family. Many of her posterity treasure her handmade quilts. The crystal icicles that adorn many Christmas trees and the cake with chocolate frosting or graham cracker cookies with chocolate frosting will be a constant reminder of her love. She told her family that “Paprika” adds color to their lives.

Surviving family members include her children: Steven (Nancy) Merrill; Susan (Larry) Christenson; Craig (Stephanie) Merrill; Colleen (Tom) Clark; 18 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren; sisters Mary Jane Harward and Joann Symmes, and many nieces and nephews.
