Rene, the son of Pedro Medeguari and Lydia Medeguari, dear brother of Peter, Jose, Tony, Angel, Armando, Frank, Danny, Brenda and Lilia Medeguari of Douglas Arizona; he enlisted in the US Marine Corps on May 10 1968 in Phoenix AR. He arrived in Vietnam on November 10 where he was assigned to and served with Company C, 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st MARDIV (Rein) FMF.

During the entire month of May the Battalion continued to support infantry units of the 1st Marine Division operating in Thua Tien, and Quang Nam Provinces. Code Named Benchmark C, a six man patrol was inserted north of Da Nang near the vicinity of Ti Tou, Hill 444 and on May 2, with PFC Rene Medeguari on point, the men walked into an enemy ambush near Hill 506. PFC Medeguari was killed instantly; the team members pulled back as supporting arms were called in on the enemy positons enabling the team to retrieve their fallen comrade.
