J.W. was married to Emma Schroeder on Nov. 5, 1886 at St John Ev. Lutheran church in Town of Center. They lived and farmed in the Town of Center. Later he moved to Appleton and his son Edwin Sr. took over the farm.
He had seven children all born in the Town of Center: Rosa Elsa Louise 4/15/1888, Elsie Marie 6/23/1889, Richard Wilhelm 9/21/1891, Infant Son 1893, Edwin Johann Sr. 2/20/1896, Selma Wilhelmine Karoline 12/2/1898, and Harold 1911.
