OBITUARY - MRS CARL BETKER - Stevens Point Daily Journal (12-31-1940)

Mrs Carl Betker, age 86, a resident of the town of Alban for many years, died Monday afternoon at 12:40 o'clock at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Myska, in Alban.

Mrs. Betker, whose maiden name was Mary Hintz, was born on January 26, 1854, in Poland. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Hintz. She was married in her native land in 1880 to Mr. Betker and the couple came to this country in 1881. After residing in Chicago for two years they came to Portage County and settled in the town of Sharon. Mr. Betker was employed at the Boyington mill. They purchased a farm in Alban in 1892 and 45 years ago (1895) located at the present farm home. Mr. Betker died on November 30, 1926.

Mrs. Betker was a member of the Rosary Society of Saint Adalbert's Catholic church at Alban. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Martin (Apolonia) Zywicki of Rosholt, Mrs. Jacob (Agnes) Dehlinger, 826 Center street, Mrs. Chester (Mary) Irish of Laona and Mrs. Anton (Balvina) Myska of Alban; a son, Peter Betker of Laona; 49 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 9:30 o'clock at St. Adalbert's church. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery beside her husband. The body is at the Crosby funeral home and will be taken to the Myska home Wednesday. The rosary will be said Wednesday evening at 8 o'clock.
