Marjorie Louise Beard

Marjorie Louise Beard, 61, died Tuesday at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Southport and a former resident of Franklin.

She was born Nov. 15, 1929, in Franklin. Her parents were Lewis Walters and Merle I. (Campbell) Walters. She married Oral Russell Bear Dec. 25, 1957, at Grace Methodist Church in Franklin. He survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Deborah LeAnne Mayfield of Indianapolis; two sons, Michael Russell Beard of Indianapolis and Mark Alan Beard of Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Ruth Alvey of Franklin; two brothers, Frank Walters of Yuma, Ariz., and Edward Walters of Columbus; and a grandson. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Don Walters, who died in 1979, and Harold Walters, who died in 1985; and a sister, Mary Ellen Repp, who died in 1984.

She graduated from Franklin High School in 1947.

She worked in the Accounts Payable Department of Grain Dealers in Indianapolis for 10 years before retiring in 1985. She also was a homemaker.

She belonged to Grace United Methodist Church in Franklin.

The Rev. Yvonne Trueblood will conduct a service at 10 a.m. Friday at Vandivier-Tudor Funeral Home in Franklin. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
