William G. Wickham, Sr., 85, a resident of Springhill Senior Living Center, and formerly of W. 33rd St., died Thursday, February 2, 2006 at Hamot Medical Center. Born in Erie on February 3, 1920, he was a son of the late T. Frederick and Florence May (Ward) Wickham. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of WWII, and served with the 8th Air Division. Before his retirement in 1983, he was a utility operator at American Sterilizer Company for 15 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Church and Ushers Society. He was an avid hunter and bird watcher, and enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves, playing pinochle, and attending the 8th Air Division reunions. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Alice Cook Wickham, Kathryn Straka Vender Wickham, and Wilma Jean Steadman Aiton Wickham; six brothers, G. Ward, Robert, Thomas F., David, James and Paul Wickham; and four sisters, Anne Wickham, Lenore Yaple, Marion O’Lone, and Agnes Wickham. Survivors include two sons, Joel Wickham, wife Peggy, Raleigh, N.C. and William G. Wickham, Jr., wife Stephanie Russo, Erie; three daughters, Julie Bleil, Erie, Alice Tillotson, husband Bill, Sagaponack, N.Y., and Mary Hauser, husband Bob, Erie; two stepsons, Rev. Philip Vender, wife Harriet, Williamsville, N.Y., and Bradley J. Aiton, wife Patricia, Erie; a stepdaughter, Sandra James, husband Don, Cambridge Springs, Pa.; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He loved and enjoyed his dog Charlie.
