Lamar resident, Gladys E. Springer passed away on July 17, 2014 at her home surrounded by family at the age of 93.
Gladys was born in Englewood on July 20, 1921 to Fred and Jessie Pinkney. She grew up in the Englewood area, went to high school and then on to Barns Business College, which was a great accomplishment for this time.
Gladys met Paul Springer on a blind date when he came to Denver to work at the Piggly Wiggly store and they eloped in Goodland, Kansas on November 17, 1940. Paul and Gladys lived on the farm all their lives and there they raised two children, Nikki and Chris. They had been married for 71 years when Paul passed away in November of 2011.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Jessie Pinkney, her husband, Paul Springer, eight brothers, three sisters, and one great granddaughter, Vashti Schultz.
Gladys is survived by her children, Nikki and husband, Wilford Adolf of Bethune, Colorado, and Chris and wife, Lenora Springer of Lamar; one sister, Janice Simmons; five grandchildren, Charlene and husband, Dennie Flock, Dawn and husband, Bradley Jackson, Stony Adolf, Terri and husband, David Rice and Tabitha and husband, Alan Fredrichs; nine great grandchildren, Nathaniel and wife, Johnna Rice, Benjamin and wife, Christina Rice, Sydney and husband, Luke Terrel, Tyler Flock, Chayenne Jackon, Cody Adolf, Christian Adolf, Lucas Fredrichs and Kenadi Fredrichs; and six great-great grandchildren, Jeremiah Schultz, Kadence Schultz, Lillie Schultz, Nacona Rice, Anna Rice and Ethan Rice. Gladys is also survived by many other relatives and a host of friends.
