On July 3, 2014 our dear mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away in General Hospital.

Phyllis grew up near Etzikom, and loved the open skies of the Alberta prairies. As a young woman, she married the love of her life and moved to Campsie in 1937. She and Dick established the Campsie General Store where Phyllis served as Post Mistress. She held the business and family together during the War when Dick served in the army. Phyllis was a pillar of the Campsie and Barrhead communities and was involved in many church and community organizations and events, such as the Kinettes, C.G.I.T., Summer Camps, Christmas Concerts and Halloween parties.

Phyllis kept her large, mobile family continuously connected with an extensive communication network. She was the family historian and genealogist, with an amazing ability to retain vital information concerning her many relatives. She loved nothing more than getting family and friends together for a visit, celebration, or a game of some type, often immortalized by a special poem penned for the occasion. Her passion for life, competitive spirit, and avid sport- mindedness has inspired her whole family.

There will be a Memorial Service at the Barrhead United Church on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with a private family interment to follow.

Arrangements being handled by Rose Garden Chapel, Barrhead. Edmonton Journal, July 5, 2014
