WELL KNOWN MAN DIES WHILE HERE ON A VISIT

Mr. A. B. Meek Passes Away After Short Illness
With Pneumonia

Mr. A. B. Meek, of Houston Texas, who had been here on a visit to his son, Mr. Seth A. Meek, and his brothers and sisters, at his old home, after 10 days of sickness with pneumonia, died on last Wednesday evening among his loved ones.

It was sad indeed, for he had not been here for eleven years.

Mr. Meek belonged to one of the most prominent families in
the State. He was genial and sympathetic and numbered his friends by his acquaintances. He had been living in Texas since he was twenty years of age, and at one time had no superior as a traveling salesman.

It looks as if Providence brought him back to his old home to die. he was 49 years of age last Tuesday and died the next day. He was the son of the Col. S. M. Meek and Mrs. Mary Louise Meek, both having 13 years ago preceded him to the grave. He leaves to mourn his loss a son, Mr. Seth A. Meek, and two brothers. Mr. W. C. Meek, attorney of this city and Mr. Samuel M. Meek, of Washington, D. C., three sisters, Mrs. Susie Meek Bolton, Mrs. Julia Meek Garety, and Mrs. Carrie Meek Sessums, all of this city.

He was buried on the old Meek square in Friendship Cemetery. Rev. W. L. Duren, of the First Methodist church, of which he was a member, Dr. Eggleston, Presbyterian minister, and Rev. J. L. Vipperman, of the Baptist church all officiated at the funeral which was held at the Meek home, 524 North 8th St. The following gentlemen acted as pall bearers: Messrs. B. A. Lincoln, J. T. Harrison, W. S. Mustin, P. C. Barksdale, Ed Morris and W. c. Gunter.
