Geneva Alcorn was born Nov. 5, 1924, to Lloyd and Bertha Gregory in Gypsy. She departed this life July 16, 2014, at the age of 89 years, eight months, and 11 days. Geneva attended Gypsy Public Schools. She has been a resident of the Newby area all of her life.
On Feb. 28, 1946, Geneva Gregory and Junior Alcorn were united in marriage. They enjoyed 48 years together before his passing Jan. 19, 1995. She was a member of the Welty Church of God. She enjoyed gardening, collecting rocks, sewing, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by one son, Larry Alcorn and wife Linda of Bristow; one daughter, Sharon Bernaud and husband Jerry of Canton, Texas; three sisters, Dorothy Bonds of Sapulpa, Pauline Powell of Steele, Mo., and Irene Sparks of Malden, Mo.; four brothers, Harold Gregory and Elvin Gregory both of Sapulpa, Elzy Gregory of Tulsa, and Russell Gregory of Salina, Kansas; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; two special caregivers, Carlene Williams and Melissa Plum.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, Marvin, Willard, Norman, and Kenneth Gregory. Funeral services were 10 a.m., Saturday, July 19, 2014 ,at Hutchins-Maples Funeral Home Funeral Chapel with Michael Bush officiating. Interment followed at Tuskegee Cemetery.
