Death of William Downtain
William Downtain died Friday evening at 5 o'clock at the home of his sister, Mrs. W.Z. Mitchell, 1223 Main street, after an illness since June 18th, of paralysis.
The deceased was born in Arenzville, Ill., April 4, 1840. He came to Lexington with his parents when seven years of age. He served in the Confederate army during the civil war. For the past thirty-five years he had made his home with his sister, Mrs. Mitchell, who with one other sister, Mrs. T.F. Keene, Canton, Mont., survives him.
The funeral was held Sun afternoon at 3 o'clock from the home.

MO Death Cert indicates buried in Lexington, Mo. but doesn't indicate which cemetery. Machpelah cemetery doesn't have record. However, cemetery records for 1920-1940 were destroyed by fire.
