Mrs. Eliza Bond Hickman, age 82 years, 11 months, died at 5:20 A. M. December 11, 1935, at the home of daughter, Mrs. W. W. Lott, near McHenry, after spending a period of 20 months confined to her bed. She was a most patient sufferer all during her illness. At the age of 18 she united with the Baptist Church and was ever a faithful worker, being a charter member of Sunflower Church. She was an old pioneer citizen of this county and section. She was the mother, of eleven children, and leaves to mourn her departure, 7 living children, 1 brother, Mr. J. C Bond of Perkinston, 1 sister, Mrs. A G. D Hickman of Wiggins and 35 grandchildren, and 28 great grand children. Her husband preceded her to the grave 31 years ago.
The following children are left behind her: Mrs. W. W. Lott. McHenry; Mrs. W.J. Squire, Jackson; Mrs. A. J. Hickman, Laurel; S. R. Hickman, Wiggins; E. J. Hickman, Wiggins; E. V. Hickman, Buena Vista, Ala.
Funeral services were conducted at Sunflower Church with Rev. N.J. Lee, R.H. Campbell and Hartfield officiating. Interment was made in the Sumrall Cemetery with Riemann Undertaking Company in charge.
We know that another pioneer mother has claimed her reward in heaven.
