Mrs. Verne McGee, 81, died Thursday evening at 10 p.m. in the Decatur County Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. McGee lived on R.R.1, Greensburg, over 24 years, and prior to that resided in the Kingston neighborhood for a short time. She had lived with her daughter, Betty Chadwell, since October of 1978.
She was born Aug. 1, 1900, in Forrest Hill, Decatur County, the daughter of George and Laura Sanders Hogg Sr. She was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church over 60 years and a member of the Clinton Extension Homemakers Club.
She was married to Arthur McGee, Aug. 11, 1920, in Decatur County and he preceded her in death Oct. 14, 1978. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. George (Betty) Chadwell, R.R.1, Greensburg; a grandson, George A. Chadwell, Greensburg; two great-grandchildren: Bradley and Julie Chadwell; six half-sisters: Florence Ashby, Indianapolis, Bonnie Kincaid, Jamestown, Dortha Baker, Columbus, Hettie Jacobs, Forrest Hill, Lois Null, Tucson, Ariz., and Velma Gray, Seymour; and a half-brother, George William Hogg, Greensburg.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Hogg.
The services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Trowbridge officiating, and with burial in the South Park Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Sunday.
