JOHN PERRY JOHNSTON, 94
John Perry Johnston, 94, a resident of Skybird Manor the past two-and-a-half years, died this morning, Feb. 2, 1987, at 8:05 a.m. in the Decatur County Memorial Hospital. He had been seriously ill 10 days.
He formerly resided on North Lincoln Street, and had lived most of his life in Decatur County, where he farmed. He also farmed in Shelby County and for over 15 years was custodian at the Decatur County YMCA.
Johnston was born Oct. 23, 1892, the son of Oliver and Susan Embry Johnston. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Shelby County, but had attended the Greensburg United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel Luther Johnston, and his second wife, Hazel Hatsook Johnston.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Taggart Ireland Johnston; a brother, James F. Johnston, Greensburg, and a sister, Maggie Foster, Greensburg.
Two brothers: Charles A. and Parker A. Johnston, and three sisters: Bertie Vandivier, Clara Bussell and Goldie Johnson, preceded him in death.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home, Greensburg, with the Rev. Michael Beck and the Rev. Russell Peterson, officiating.
Burial will be in South Park Cemetery, Greensburg.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
