Kurt died Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at home after a brave fight with cancer.
Kurt was born Sept. 30, 1941, in Klamath Falls, Ore., to Bert and Estelline Schmidt. After graduating from Klamath Union High School in 1960, he attended the University of Denver for one year. He then attended Oregon State University and received degrees in industrial engineering and business.
survivors include wife, son and daughter-in-law, mother-in-law, brother and sister-in-law, nephews and niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, James Schmidt.
