BOURNE, Leonore May
(everyone knew her as "Billie") went home to be with our Lord and Savior on January 26, 2006, at the age of 72. She was always so warm, loving and encouraging to everyone around her. Billie was a steadfast believer in Jesus Christ and a member of the Church of Christ for over 45 years. Billie regularly demonstrated her strong Faith in so many lasting ways. On a daily basis she would spend time reading God's word and taking the time to pray for others. She has left such a loving mark on so many that knew her. Billie dearly loved her husband Mike, to whom she was happily married for 50 years. Their relationship was very special and has been a lasting example to so many. Billie was born in Zwartkops, South Africa where she met, fell in love with, and married Mike before moving to the United States permanently in 1972. Both Billie and Mike were very proud to have become American citizens together. Throughout their life together, Billie and Mike were faithfully committed to Christian service and ministry in
both South Africa and in the United States. Billie and Mike were residents of Pomona for 16 years, having moved there from Chino in 1986. In 2002, they moved to Palmdale and became members of the Lancaster Church of Christ. They always loved to garden, collect and restore antiques and "sit in the garden and have tea". Billie avidly supported the American Red Cross through her numerous blood donations over the course of her life. Regretfully, she lost her husband, Mike in 2004, and her firstborn son, Nigel Derrick Bourne in 1989. She loved and missed them dearly. Billie is survived by her brother, Stanley and family in Johannesburg, South Africa; children, Susan, John and Lisa; grandchildren, Ryan, Sulinda, Andrew, Meagan, Matthew, Taylor, Shelby, Tracy and Tamra; great-granchildren, C.J., Chryystal, Steven, Austin, Cory, Andrew Jr., Jacob, Tyler and baby Mia; her many friends, neighbors, loved ones and many brothers and sisters in Christ. Billie was an incredible wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and dear friend who has left us a legacy that will never be forgotten. Billie was dearly loved and will be sorely missed by all. Services are being provided by Halley-Olsen- Murphy Memorial Chapel, Lancaster. Services were held at Lancaster Church of Christ, on Monday, January 30, 2006, and Billie was appropriately laid to rest with Mike at Lancaster Cemetery on the day of their 52nd wedding anniversary.
