Thomas Edward Gunter Sr., 76, of Bremen, died Monday, September 28, 2009, at his residence.
He was born in Cullman County on February 28, 1933 to George and Hattie Bowen Gunter. He was a longtime member of Bremen Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sherry Anderson; his son, Tommy Gunter Jr.; a son-in-law, Jimmy Kilgore; three grandsons; one great grandson; three brothers and five sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Mae Gunter ; four sons, Micheal Gunter, George (Cristal) Gunter, Buddy Oden and Jimmy Long; five daughters, Charlotte (Marlin) Bailey, Mary (Galin) McClendon, Diane (Perry) Lloyd, Pat Oden and Donna (Porter) Bryant; thirty grandchildren; thirty-seven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are being handled by Hanceville Funeral Home, 100 Michelle St. NW Hanceville, AL 35077.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 from 4:30 PM to 9:00 PM at Bremen Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Bremen Baptist Church with Junior Garman officiating. Interment will be in Dorsey Creek Cemetery in Bremen.
