Jerry Cook

Jerry Cook, 75, of Abbeville, AL passed away Sunday, May 11, 2014 at a local hospital.

Funeral services will be 11 am Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in New Park Cemetery in Ft. Gaines, GA with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Cook was born June 3, 1938 in Houston County and lived in Dothan most of his life. He owned and operated Dothan Transmission for 46 years until his retirement in 2003. He moved to Lake Eufaula in 1995 and has resided there for the past 19 years. Jerry was an avid fisherman and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Taylor Masonic Lodge. Mr. Cook was preceded in death by his daughter Sherri Anderson.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years Gayle Cook; a son Kevin (Holley) Cook; daughters, Terri (Stacey) Knighton, Jerri (Heath) Carpenter, Starla (Michael) Gillis, Melanie (Samuel) Jacob, and Brandi (Todd) Foss; his grandchildren, Danielle Braswell, Ryan Anderson, Courtney Anderson, Chase Knighton, Jared Cook, Zach Foss, Tyler Condrey, Matthew Carpenter, Christina Gillis, Trenton Foss, Dylan Carpenter and Ella Knighton; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, Johnny Mack Cook and George Cook; sisters, Annette Barnes and Joan Fryer; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Mr. Cook's grandsons.
