Antonio Casal

Death: Feb. 11, 1974

Actor. He was born in Santiago de Compostela, La Coruña, Galicia, Spain. He began his career like others actors of his times on the stage, appearing in "La del Manojo de Rosas" and "La Madre Guapa" with María Fernanda Ladrón De Guevara. Soon, he entered in cinema and become a star in the 40s, often playing comedic roles. He is remembered for films such as "Polizón a Bordo" (1941), "El Hombre que se Quiso Matar" (1941), "La Torre de los Siete Jorobados" (1944), "El Fantasma y Doña Juanita" (1944), "Botón de Ancla" (1947), "Doña Francisquita" (1952), "Manolo, Guardia Urbano" (1956), "Las Chicas de la Cruz Roja" (1958), "El Día de los Enamorados" (1959), "Mi Calle" (1960), "La Revoltosa" (1968) and "La Tonta del Bote" (1968). Shortly before his death, he triumphed in television, with Plinio. He died in Madrid, Spain. His daughter was the actress María Casal. (bio by: José L Bernabé Tronchoni)
