Waubay - Richard Dolney 76, of Waubay, S.D., died Saturday, May 7, 2005, at the Bethesda Home in Webster.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, May 11, 2005, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Waubay. Burial in the Waubay Catholic Cemetery. Visitation at Fiksdal Funeral Service, Webster.

Richard Dolney was born Nov. 30, 1928, to John and Catherine, (Peplinski) Dolney at Webster, S.D. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grenville. He attended country and Catholic school near Grenville. He was a farm hand from 1945 to 1953.

He was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1953, serving in Germany during the Korean War as the company commander's driver. His father passed away while he was in Germany. He attained the rank of corporal.

After his discharge in 1955 he returned to Grenville and lived with his mother and three sisters and continued to farm with his brother.

On Jan. 10, 1959, he married Alice Breske at Immaculate Conception Church in Waubay. The couple lived on the farm near Grenville, and Richard farmed for 10 years, then for a brief time he drove a gravel truck for Day County Highway Department. He then worked in the maintenance department for the Federal Fish and Wildlife Service for 30 years. He retired in 1999, when the couple moved to Waubay. He entered the Bethesda Home in October 2004.

He enjoyed dancing, listening to old-time music, gardening, playing cards, and visiting.
He was a member of the Webster V.F.W., and the Brady-Monson Post 129 of the Waubay American Legion.

Survivors include his wife Alice of Waubay; six sisters, Irene Peckron of St. Paul, Minn., Esther Kwasniewski and Virginia Gollnick both of Webster, S.D., Frances (Adolph) Streier of New Hope, Minn., Georgene (Harlan) Schuster of Minn., and Alice (Darold) Michlitsch of Clear Lake, Minn.; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.
