Daughter of George Ullery. Wife of Martin Wertz and of Alexander French. Mother of Elsie Vipond, Gertrude Fayad and Henry Werts.


Altoona Mirror, 1 November 1918:

"Mrs. Elizabeth French, widow of Alexander French, died this morning at 5:35 o'clock at her home, Loop station, Frankstown township, of paralysis. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Ullery, both deceased, and was born at Loop station 75 years ago. She was a highly esteemed lady and consistent member of the Loop Mennonite church. She is survived by the following daughters and son: Mrs. Griffith Vipond of Hilltop, Mrs. Gertrude Fayette of Altoona, and Harry French (sic) of Loop station; also by the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Martha Kopp of Altoona, Mrs. Ruth Snyder of Roaring Spring; Mary Anna and William French (sic) of the west."

Altoona Tribune, Saturday, Nov. 2, 1918, p. 8:

"Mrs. Elizabeth French died at her home at West Loop, at 5:35 a.m., yesterday of paralysis. She was stricken Thursday morning, and was widely known and greatly esteemed. She was twice wedded. Her first husband was Luther Wertz, who died twenty-nine years ago and later she married again. Three sons and three daughters among whom are Harry H. Wertz, at home; Mrs. Effie Vipond, Hilltop, and Mrs. Gertrude Fayad, this city, survive with five grandchildren and a brother and three sisters, two of the latter being Mrs. Ruth Snyder, of Roaring Spring, and Mrs. Martha Fox, this city. Mrs. French was a member of the Mennonite church, Loop. She was in her 74th year. Funeral notice later."
