Hospitalman 2/c U.S. Navy, Vietnam War-Corpsman Wurtz was killed in action near Hill 881 by Rocket & Artillery rounds on 2-22-1968 while serving as a Combat Medic with the H&S Co. of the 3rd Battalion, 26th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. Corpsman Wurtz started his tour of Vietnam on 11-5-1967.

He is the son of Mr. Martin Anthony & Mrs. Theresa Ida Wurtz of 2131 North Avers Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, and he enlisted with the Army in Chicago on 6-7-1966.

Awards: Purple Heart Medal, Combat Medic Badge, Vietnam Service Medal with One Service Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal.
