The youngest child of Leo, a German immigrant and Matilda Ottilia from West Virginia, Albert Cornelius spent his short life in Wheeling and assumed the trade barbering. He worked in the city of his birth until he became ill with tuberculosis. Albert succumbed to this disease at the young age of 19 years, dying at the family home at 2306 Main leaving behind his parents and older brother. A younger sister, Elizabeth, died four years previously of the same cause. He is buried next to her at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
