He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Ex-POW Association.
He received his master's degree in education from the University of Wichita. Before his retirement, he was an educator for the Kansas Public Schools.
Survivors include a son, Russell E. Findley of Porter, IN; and five grandchildren, Sidney, Michael, Kimberly, Richard, and Erin.
He was preceded in death by brother Max and sister Loretta.
Graveside services are Aug. 16, at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, under the direction of Nilson Funeral Home.
