Marlys "Dolly" Gynnild, 93 of Altoona passed away on Monday, December 5, 2016 at her home.

Dolly was born on March 25, 1923 in Menomonie, Wisconsin to John and Manda (Score) Dahl.

She grew up in Menomonie and graduated from Menomonie High School. After graduation, Dolly attended Beauty School and worked as a beautician for several years.

She married Orville Gynnild on November 3, 1945 in Menomonie and from this marriage they had three daughters.

She later worked at Samuelson's for many years as a decorator. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, working in various volunteer jobs there; as well as a member of Luther Hospital Auxiliary. Dolly loved sports such as football, baseball, figure skating, and swimming. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Norway, which she visited often to spend time with relatives. Dolly was very fond of her family and held their accomplishments very close to her. She will be dearly missed by many, and remembered for her loving personality and strong will.

Dolly is survived by her daughter, Jane (Gary) Gilchrist; granddaughters, Janet (Duwayne) Drake, Michelle MacGlashin, and Kristen Snyder; grandsons, Jon (Mary-Pat) Osborne, Dan (Amanda) Osborne, Matt (Danielle) Snyder and Joe Snyder; great-grandchildren, Alyssa Drake, Cameron Drake, Carter Drake, Samantha MacGlashin, Amanda MacGlashin, Keghan MacGlashin, Maura Osborne, Blake Osborne, Brett Osborne, Logan Osborne, and Jacob Osborne; son-in-laws, Dirk Snyder and Bob Osborne.

Dolly was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Orville Gynnild; daughters, Nancy Snyder and Mary Osborne; and two brothers, Jon (Babe) Dahl and Mario (Morrie) Dahl.

Funeral services will be Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 12:00 pm at Smith Funeral Chapel with Pastor Scott Miller officiating. Visitation will being at 10 am up to the time of service at the funeral home on Saturday.

Burial will be at 3:00 pm on Saturday at Halvorson Cemetery in Menomonie, Wisconsin.
