Vern Glazebrook, son of Wesley and Emma (Lawrence) Glazebrook was born Sept. 2, 1897, in Decatur County. When he was a small boy, he and his family moved to Ill. for a few years, later moving back to Decatur Co. On Oct. 10, 1917, he married Vera Metts, daughter of Frank and Jennie Metts. Vera was born Aug. 26, 1899. Vern and Vera both went to school in Decatur County. At one time, they both attended school at Dunham School in Sand Creek community. They had three children, Kenneth, who married Shirley Irwin; Cecil, who married Harland Adams; and Russell, who married Toni Tucker.

Vern and Vera farmed the early years of their marriage, later moving to Osceola where he worked for REA several years. They then moved to Indianola where he was employed with Laverty Seed Farms in industrial crop spraying. He also, was in the military service for awhile during WW II. He entered service two days before his youngest son, Russell, also left for Navy duty. On their retirement they moved back to their home in Osceola where they both worked for Leisure Manor Nursing Home.

Vern died June 21, 1971, and is buried in Grand River Cemetery. Vera lived in Osceola until Aug. of 1976 when she bought a house in Grand River, where she now lives near her daughter and son-in-law, Cecil and Harland Adams.

H. V. Glazebrook Dies Monday
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 24, for Howard Vern Glazebrook. He died at the age of 73 on Monday, June 21. The 1:30 p.m. services will be conducted by the Rev. Paul Luckey at the Webster-Kale Funeral Home in Osceola.

Howard Vern Glazebrook was born on September 2, 1897, in Ringgold County, Iowa, being the son of Wesley and Emma Lawrence Glazebrook. He was affiliated with the Assembly of God Church and had lived in Osceola since 1950. Prior to that time he lived in Grand River. He had been a farmer and veteran of World War II. On October 10, 1917, he was married to Vera Metts. Three children were bom to this union.

Surviving relatives include: wife, Vera of Osceola; son, Kenneth and wife, Shirley, Casper Wyoming; daughter, Mrs. Cecil Adams and husband, Harland, Grand River; son, Russell and wife, Loraine, La Habra, California; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters, Zora Glazebrook, Afton; and Edna Burchett, Murray; Maggie Musselman, Truro; Ruby Adams, Grand River; Sylvia Brammer, Melburn, Iowa; brothers, Clyde, Weldon; Archie, Waterloo; and Floyd of La Cresenta, California.

He was preceded in death by: parents; one grandson; and one brother, Wayne. Burial will be in the Grand River Cemetery.

Osceola Assembly of God11:00 a.m. This will be a very special service. Rev. Stanton Johnson, Superintenent of the Iowa District of the Assemblies of God, will be guest speaker. The Vern Glazebrook Memorial Piano will be dedicated and the church will launch the building fund campaign for the new church.
