Patricia Ann "Patt" Schmidt, 63, Hays, died Friday, Dec. 30, 2005 at her home. She was born Sept. 18, 1942, in Hays to Ambrose and Adelia (Dreiling) Brungardt.

She married Howard Schmidt on Aug. 29, 1960, at Emmeram.

She graduated from Victoria High School. She was a nurse's aide at St. Anthony Hospital and a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband; four sons, Dean Schmidt and wife, Teri, Atchison; Curtis Schmidt and wife, Debbie, Shawnee, Timothy Schmidt and wife, Debra, Wichita and Terrance Schmidt of Ocean, New Jersey; a daughter, Amy Lou Drum and husband, Brett, Shawnee; two brothers, Dr. Gilbert A. Brungardt, Baltimore, and Paul Brungardt, Emmeram; four sisters, Sister Valeria Brungardt, Fond du Lac, Wisc.; Cecelia Brungardt and Yvonne Braun, both of Hays, and Ruth Polifka, Catherine; 11 grandchildren; four step-grand- children and two step great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, LuVerna Schulte.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays. A parish vigil will be 7 p.m. Monday at Hays Memorial Funeral Chapel, 20th and Pine. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Monday and from noon until 1:45 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel.

Memorials are suggested to the oncology department of Hays Medical Center or Schmidt-Dreiling Cancer Center in her name.
