Wayne Barrett, 73, died Thursday, May 15, 2014 in Olney, Texas. Funeral services will be on Monday, May 19, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home in Olney, Texas with Andy Graham, pastor of Southside Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.
Wayne was born on January 1, 1941, in Graham, Texas, to the late Horace Wesley Barrett and Emma Lee (Stevens) Barrett. Wayne graduated from Graham High School and attended Draughons Business School to study drafting. He joined the United States Navy on August 30, 1960 and served as a draftsman. Wayne re-enlisted after each active duty period and served during the Viet Nam War. He retired on December 11, 1979 at the rank of DM1.
Wayne is survived by his daughter, Sharla "Charlie" Barrett Carr of Olney; grandson, Matthew Maclauren Carr of Blue Ridge, Texas; granddaughters, Krystale Rene Montana of Midlothian, Texas and Angela Norris Roznovsky of Cuero, Texas; and six great-grandchildren.
