Retired Area Plant Supervisor
For Columbia Gas of Ohio
Donald R. Braun, 60, of Harvest Lane, retired area plant supervisor for Columbia Gas of Ohio, died yesterday in his home.
A resident of Toledo many years, Mr. Braun had been associated with Columbia Gas 35 years before retiring on August 1.
He and his wife, Thelma, also operated The Original Hot Dog, a restaurant at Secor and Alexis Roads, during the past year. In addition, Mr. Braun had been a part-time employee at Janney's Ace Hardware, Secor Road.
He was a past president of the Westwood School Parent-Teacher Association; one of the founders and the President of the Great Dane Club of Northwest Ohio; scoutmaster of Troop 107 Boy Scouts of America at Westwood School; member of the director's staff at Zenobia Temple Shriners; and a member of the Fort Industry Lodge, F&AM and Scottish Rite.
Mr. Braun was also a Little League baseball coach and a Navy veteran of World War II.
Also surviving are his daughter, Mrs. Donna Deal; sons, Douglas R., and Donald R., Jr.; father, George, and brother George, Jr.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the
H. H. Birkenkamp Mortuary, Trilby, where the body will be after 2 p.m. tomorrow.
Masonic services will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
