Funeral for Walter J. Spence, 77, of Waycross Drive will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Barkes, Inlow and Weaver Funeral Home on Washington Street, with the Revs. Sam Mills and J. W. Whitlock officiating. Calling will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today and from 12:30 p.m. until service time Monday. Burial will be a Garland Brook Cemetery.

Mr. Spence died at 6:33 p.m. Friday, March 15, 1996, at Columbus Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was a retired Cosco employee.

He was born in Adair County, Ky., Oct. 28, 1918, the son of Lucian and Laura Long Spence. He married Nellie L. Goodin Sept. 24, 1938. She survives.

Also surviving are daughters, Judy Hignite, Sheila Runner and Deborah Wilson; sisters, Melvina Mings and Mattie Spence, both of Scipio, and Ada Mitchell of Ohio; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
