Clifford, Elizabeth (Elyze), 64, born in Tucson, Arizona, Feb. 9, 1926, passed away April 1, 1990. She came to the Antelope Valley in 1951, returned to Laguna for a few years where she studied and received a certificate for environmental research. She did publicity for the Antelope Valley Community College when it first opened and established the Southwest Desert Householders Alliance in 1978. As a noted and tireless environmentalist, she fought to protect the prime desert woodlands. She is survived by one brother, Robert W. Clifford of Lancaster; her mother, Vesta Mary Clifford of Lancaster, preceded her in death in 1985. Private graveside services will be Thursday at the Lancaster Cemetery, with the Rev. Richard Stanley officiating. It is requested that donations in lieu of flowers be made to an already established fund for the acquisition, restoration and preservation of the desert woodland between Avenue M and Avenue K in the vicinity of 35th Street West and the Rawley Duntley Park.
