Lenore Ann Dapper Boyce died Saturday night, March 29, 2014. She was born October 1, 1924, in Old Forge, Pennsylvania. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 1948 from the University of Pennsylvania in Pittsburgh. She was then invited to be Clinical Instructor at Hahnemann Hospital School of Nursing in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The School of Nursing sent her to be an instructor at the hospital in Mansfield, PA. She was eating at a diner with friends, when a young man walked in, saw her, and told his friends, "that's the girl I'm going to marry". She married Richard G. Boyce, Sr., on May 27, 1950. They were married for 63 1/2 years. Richard preceded her in death by four and a half months. She worked as a nurse for almost 40 years in Pennsylvania and Maryland. She was a sister in the Gettysburg Chapter of the Eastern Star and is a past Worthy Matron. Mrs. Boyce was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Arendtsville, PA. She is survived by three sons, Richard G. Boyce, Jr. (Shannon), of Chestnut Ridge, NY, D. Michael Boyce (Dee Dee), of Ooltewah, TN, Gregory S. Boyce, of Cairo, GA, four grandchildren, Derek (Ashley), Jody (Dustin), Collins, and Lena, two sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held on Saturday, June 28, 2014, at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, PA.
