Harold E. Boes, 87, of Hannibal and formerly of Scott County passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014 at the Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal, MO. He was born Feb. 26, 1927 in Winchester, the son of Rudolph "Rudy" and Bertha Wilson Boes. He married Geraldine Brown Dec. 3, 1949 in Pittsfield.
Surviving is his wife Geraldine of Hannibal; four daughters, Peggy L. (Jerry) Meyer of Grafton, Brenda G. (David) Peterson of Rock Island, Debra L. (Gary) Evans of Winchester, and Karan L. (Joe) Noonan of Hannibal; nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren; and two sisters, Norma Stice of Alton and Doris Lashmet of Springfield. One grandchild and six brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
Mr. Boes was a life-long farmer, raising both grain and livestock. He was a devoted family man who looked forward to spending time with his family, including his extended family during family reunions. Harold's life can be summed up by saying he worked hard all his life.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the Daws Family Funeral Home in Winchester with interment in the Winchester City Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until time of the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Hannibal Regional Hospital or Autism Research. Condolences may be left online at
