Susan was born and baptized in NJ before the McDevitt family moved to Philadelphia. He's listed as the husband of John Newton Henderson Jr in 1890, but they got formally married in a Catholic Church in 1893. At that time, she was list with occupation in "mill".
She got tuberculosis during the frequent outbreaks in Philadelphia, and was moved to the "Home for Consumptives" before dying there in 1898.
Later, when her children were taken by the Children's Aide Society, Susan's mother, Susan McDevitt came to request that they find the father (John Newton Henderson Sr) and force him to pay for the children.
