Guinelle Jones Thomas of Hazlehurst, Ga. passed away peacefully April 24, 2014, in Macon, Ga. after an extended illness. The daughter of L.D. and Evelyn Jones, she was born in Hazlehurst on March 15, 1937. She graduated from Jeff Davis High School in 1955.
Mrs. Thomas was a member of the First Baptist Church, an avid gardner with a love for roses and especially loved travel with her family. She was a doting grandmother to her four grandsons.
She is predeceased by her husband, Dr. Michael Farris Thomas, and her son, Michael Farris Thomas, II. She is survived by her daughter, Marla-Deen Thomas Brooks, son-in-law, Stephen Mann Brooks, grandsons William Deen Brooks, Stephen Smith Brooks and John Thomas Brooks of Atlanta, her daughter-in-law Amy Fulghum Thomas and grandson, Michael Farris Thomas, III, of Macon, her sister Marlene Jones Murphy, of Amelia Island, Fl, nephews James Harold Mimbs of Jacksonville, Fl, John Brandon Mimbs of Sand Point, ID, as well as other relatives and dear friends.
There will be visitation with family and friends at Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home in Hazlehurst on Saturday, April 26, 2014, from 5-7 pm and graveside services on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Hazlehurst City Cemetery.
