Marge “Grams” June Compton, 77, of Lyman, passed away April 22, 2014 in Salt Lake City, due to complications in surgery. She was born June 24, 1936, in Rosalie, Neb., to parents Roy “Bud” and Margaret E. Freel. Marge grew up in Moffat, Colo. towards the end of the Great Depression, sixth of nine children. She grew to value all things, always saying, “Waste not.” After graduating high school she moved to Hartsel, Colo., where she waitressed and was able to buy herself as many boxes of raisins, bananas and shoes as she wanted.

Marge married Joe Taylor in 1957, was widowed, and later remarried Danny Compton on Dec. 7, 1966. They later divorced.

Marge worked at the Jim Bridger Club for many years where she was very involved in fundraisers of many kinds for Bridger Valley. She was always there to help anyone in need or donate to a cause. She was given Bridger Valley’s Guardian Angel award for all of her involvement in the community. Marge dedicated her life to her family and was the most giving person, always willing to help others in any way she could. She enjoyed spending time with family, collecting cookie jars, going to yard sales, watching football, especially her Denver Broncos, and traveling to Wendover.

Marge is survived by her children, Bob (Diane) Taylor of Ft. Bridger,; Joe Taylor of Moffat, Colo.; and grandchildren Amber (Chris) Hofeldt; Brian Taylor; Larry Ellison; Joe Taylor; Jake Lorenzo; Eddy Lorenzo and many more she “adopted” along the way; great-grandchildren Myles and Madilyn Hofeldt; and brother Gene Freel of Moffat Colo.

She was preceded in death by siblings Marie Mallot, Pont Freel, Gordon Freel, Jerold Freel, Ed Freel, Chloe Clayton, and Karen Freel; and the love of her life, George Burns.
